Front seatbelts are fitted with pretensioners, helping to reduce passenger motion and increase safety in the event of a crash. In the event of a collision, the pretensioner will initially tighten the seat belt, helping to hold you to your seat whilst the airbags deploy. A load limiter then gradually releases you, helping to reduce injury from the seat belt tension as well as the airbag.
